Indian hockey eves look for win against Spain on Tuesday’s meeting

Madrid [Spain], June 12 (NT): The Indian women's hockey team will look to commence their five-match bilateral series in opposition to strong Spain with a winning note when they will lock horns with the hosts in the introductory match here at the Consejo Superior de Deportes Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Team India which ranks No. 10 in the World teams will be led by Captain Rani Rampal.Rampal who has returned to the team after having been rested for the recently-concluded 5th Women's Asian Champions Trophy played in South Korea.

The visitors have picked a full-strength team as they look to build impetus ahead of the Hockey Women's World Cup London 2018.

In the recently-concluded Asian Champions Trophy 2018, the Indian team had to claim for a silver medal after losing 0-1 to South Korea in the final match.

It must be noted that the Spain tour is a part of the Rani-led Indian eve team's preparations for the World Cup, which is lined up to be held from July 21 and will run till August 5 in London. (NT)
