Indore:Death sentence to convict in rape -murder case of infant at Rajwada

INDORE: Within 21 days of the rape and murder of three month old infant at iconic Rajwada, the Indore district court convicted the accused of the crime and pronounced death sentence.

On April 20, the survivor was found dead in the basement of a building near Indore's Rajwada palace after which the accused was detained on the same day and produced before the court for the first time on April 21.

The Session court of Indore found him culpable under sections of kidnapping, rape, murder and relevant sections of POCSO act.

Additional district and sessions judge Varsha Sharma pronounced the verdict.

When she asked the accused if he wanted to say anything, he said, "I did not do anything with any child."

On this the judge noted that she had already found guilty him for the rape and murder and asked what punishment should be given to him.

To this the accused sobbing and stood joining his hands and asked the court to give him whatever sentence they thought was fit.

The incident came to light when the blood-soaked body of the toddler was found in the basement of a building in Rajwada area. The post-mortem report suggested the girl might have been raped before being murdered as her private part irked an injury mark.

the accused, later identified as Sunil Bheel (21), was seen carrying the infant on his shoulder on CCTV footage.

The Session court Indore announced the decision on quantum of punishment at 1pm.
