Nachos

They were named in 1943 after chef Ignacio Anaya, whose nickname was 'Nacho'. Originally, they were simply fried tortillas that were covered with shredded cheddar cheese, jalapeno and peppers. And when the customers enquired about the name of the dish, he answered ‘Nacho’s Especiales’ that was later shortened to ‘Nachos’.

Maggi

Maggi is named after Julius Michael Johannes Maggi, who is the inventor of precooked soups and Maggi sauces. The idea was to create packaged healthy food for the working class and it resulted in form of Maggi ready-to-use soups in 1886. Later, in 1983, the instant noodles were introduced in India.

Sandwich

It was named after John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, an 18th-century English aristocrat, who wanted a particular serving of cold meat tucked between two pieces of bread; so that he could eat easily and continue playing cards without getting them greasy.

Tunday ke Kebab

Surprisingly, this dish was named after the disability of the maker (one armed chef Haji Murad Ali). He made this dish which is soft and aromatic, with 160 spices, for a Nawab with no teeth.
