On International Women's Day, we talk about women empowerment, women rights, violence against women, empowering rural women etc. and now this year they have come up with an amazing theme #PressForProgress, which means gender equality.
This theme surely conveys an idea and make a move towards the gender equality among individuals. Despite all the progress we have seen in the last years, gender equality is still a big issue which needs to be solved. This year #PressForProgress theme acknowledges all the movements took place in the last months like #MeToo and #TimesUP etc.
As is shared on the International Women's Day official website:
"And while we know that gender parity won't happen overnight, the good news is that across the world women are making positive gains day by day. Plus, there's indeed a very strong and growing global movement of advocacy, activism and support. So we can't be complacent. Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. A strong call to #PressForProgress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive."
"Individually, we're one drop, but together we're an ocean. Commit to a 'gender parity mindset' via progressive action. Let's all collaborate to accelerate gender parity, so our collective action powers equality worldwide.", also added to the official site.
So basically the idea is not to give gender equality to the women when International Women's Day is around apart it says to place women on the same podium where men are standing as women are equally capable just the way men are.
