International forest day 2018: PETA promotes vegan eating

New Delhi [India], Mar. 21 (NT): In the wake of international forest day People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is promoting vegan eating among people.

Members of PETA painted their bodies as different animals, such as zebra tiger, and giraffe and held a march in New Delhi on Tuesday to mark the World Forestry Day which is celebrated on March 21 every year.

PETA spokesperson Neha stated "our aim is to spread awareness amongst the people about how their demand for eggs and meat is forcing the clearing of forest land so that these can be grown artificially, which has brought a number of animal species to the verge of extinction", as quoted by ANI.

She added, "we would like to urge people to consciously bring about a change in their lifestyles so that they can live healthy lives and also let the animals to live their lives".

PETA is a global organization that works and fights for the rights of all animals.

World Forestry Day or International Day of Forests is celebrated globally every year on 21st of March in order to enhance the public awareness among communities about the values, importance and contributions of the forests to balance the life cycle on our planet earth.
