MUMBAI: Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s younger brother Iqbal Kaskar has been arrested in Mumbai in connection with a case of extortion. The arrest was ended by Pradeep Sharma, a former encounter specialist who heads the Anti-Extortion cell of the Thane Police Maharashtra. The case was filed following the complaint of a Mumbai-based builder.

Sources said the builder had alleged that Iqbal Kaskar had made repeated demands for flats even after receiving four flats in Mumbai.

The arrest led to speculations about probable action against India's most wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim. Last week, Union minister VK Singh had said "We will not talk about Dawood at all. Certain things are happening. We can't let the cat out of the bag."

In 2003, Iqbal Kaskar was exile to India from the United Arab Emirates. He was reportedly wanted in a murder case, as well as his alleged role in the controversial Sara Sahara case, where a building came up illegally on government land. Four years later, a court acquitted him in both cases.
