Hyderabad: People of Charminar city ready to avail the services of the newly inaugurated Hyderabad Metro on Wednesday. Yesterday Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the first phase of the 72-km superior project at the Miyapur station.

The trains would run from 6 am to 10 pm at first which would be putting off to 5:30 am to 11 pm as per the demands of the traffic.

The concessionaire, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd, has fixed a minimum ticket of Rs 10 for a distance of up to two km and the maximum ticket is Rs 60 for a distance of more than 26 km.

Each of the trains would begin with three coaches and 330 people can take a trip in each coach. The number of coaches can be augmented to six depending on the traffic, Rao had asserted.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail dream project, advertised to be the world's largest public-private partnership, commenced in July 2012. It was at first planned to be fulfilled by June this year but the postponement of land attainment and other issues resulted in it exceed the time limit.

Price fare on the metro channel is higher than other modes of public transport such as Multi-Modal Transport (MMTS) trains, RTC buses, and shared cabs. For MMTS trains, the maximum fare is Rs 10 for the general compartment and Rs 100 for the first class compartment.
