Europe, USA and UAE is the most visited place for Indians. Let’s discover Japan this time. It seems Japan will soon become the next most favourite international destination among Indian travellers. Reason? Well, the Japan visa rules are about to get a lot easier for Indians than it already is. According to news reports, starting January 1, 2018, the rules for Japan visa application will be simplified for Indians applying for multiple-entry-visa for short-term stay.

According to the Japanese Embassy, this move is going to benefit both the frequent business travellers and tourists visiting Japan from India. In fact, the new relaxed visa rules imply that they will not only make the Japan visit visa requirements simpler, which will make visa application documents simpler, but also expand the scope of those eligible to apply for it.

For instance, the requirement of the applicant's employment certificate and explanation letter stating the reason for visiting Japan will not be required anymore for those who are applying for the multiple-entry visa.

Pointing out this factor, the Japanese Embassy has stated, “In principle, applicants will be able to apply for multiple-entry-visa with only three documents—passport visa application form (with photo) and papers to prove the financial capability (for tourism purpose), documents to prove the applicant's affiliation to certain enterprises (for business purpose)”.

In fact, those who have visited Japan more than twice in the past one year would be required to submit only their passports and visa application forms to obtain a multiple-entry visa which would have a validity of five years and a stay allowance of maximum 90 days.
