In the mixed doubles event on Saturday of the ongoing Japan Open Super Series, the pair Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy suffered a defeat in front of Japanese duo of Takuro Hoki and Sayaka Hirota.

The Indian pair who had won the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships were defeated by 21-14, 15-21, 19-21 in a match that lasted exactly an hour. Pranaav and Reddy had earlier defeated Koreans Seo Seung Jae and Kim Ha Na by a 21-18, 9-21, 21-19 margin in two minutes under the hour.

On Friday, in the men's singles quarterfinal match the Indian player Kidambi Srikanth lost a match in front of recently-crowned world champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in Japan by 17-21, 17-21 in a match that lasted for 40 minutes.

The 25-year-old with this lost is crashed out of the  Japan Open Super Series as he suffered a defeat to world No 2. 

H.S. Prannoy in the men's singles quarterfinal match in Tokyo on Friday suffered a defeat in front of China's Shi Yuqi. The player from China beat Prannoy by 15-21, 14-21 in a clash that lasted for 45 minutes.

Indian player Saina Nehwal on Thursday lost a match to Rio Olympic gold medallist Carolina Marin. Thus, she was crashed out of the Japan Open Super Series.
