India's star Javelin thrower athlete Neeraj Chopra qualified for the prestigious Diamond League final in Zurich on August 30. Chopra, the current Commonwealth Games champion, had been in fifth place in the Rabat (Moroccan) phase of Diamond League Series at the start of this month with the best throw of 83.32 meters.

He had obtained four Diamond League points from there and entered the final with five other players. Apart from Chopra, the current world champion Johannes Waiter, Olympian Champion Thomas Roohler, 2017 IAAF Diamond League champion Jacob Wadleyjich, German champion Andreas Hoffman and Estonia's record holder Magnus Kurt also qualified.

Prior to Rabat, Neeraj participated in two other Diamond League events. He was in fourth place in Doha on 4th May, earning him five points, while on May 25, he managed to earn three points in the US Eugene from sixth.

He was ranked fourth in the Doha Diamond League with 87.43-meter throws. World's top athletes participating in 14-stage Diamond League competitions. In each stage, players living in the top eight get a prize money. The athlete at the eighth position gets $ 1000, while the winner gets $ 10,000. In the Diamond League final in Zurich and Brussels, this prize money has been increased, in which the eighth-place will get $ 2,000, while the first placeman will get $ 50,000.
