Kerala’s PS Jeena to lead Indian women’s basketball team at Asian Cames

Kochi: Indian team is all set to participate in the Asian Games in Indonesia. After Smirthi Radhakrishnan, Jeena will be second Keralite to get an opportunity to lead the country in an international event.Before Jenna, Smirthi Radhakrishna was the first Keralite to lead the team at the global level in 2014 She used to play for the Railways.

Asian Games 2018 slated to be held at Jakarta, Indonesia, and Palembang

On getting honor of leading India in Asian games, she said that she is so grateful for this opportunity to lead the Indian team. She further added that they will be looking to do their best and qualify for the quarter-finals from the group stages.  She also said that if you look at the draw, Indonesia is supposed to be the easiest of opponents but then they are the host. If they can beat them first up, it will be confidence boot and Indian team expect to progress from the group.

Jeena has also played an important role in the revival of Kerala women’s team of late, which saw them ending a 32-year wait to be crowned champions at the senior national championship. 

Indian team have played a preparatory tournament, the William Jones Cup in Taipei but suffered the loss in all the five matches.
