OpenSignal's latest State of LTE report stated that Reliance Jio's nationwide launch of 4G services in September attracted 100 million LTE subscribers in six months. The Jio had the power and efficacy to push India to topmost countries.

It is a rare instance how in such a short period of time, a new comer invaded and reshaped the mobile market and gave rise to 4G revolution in India making 4G services far more gettable in the Southeast Asian nation.

"Our testers on Jio's network were able to find a 4G signal 91.6% of the time, an exceptional availability measurement by any global standard," the OpenSignal report said. "In comparison, no other Indian operator scored higher than 60% in our availability tests."

Idea and Vodafone ranked second with LTE available metrics of 59 percent. Despite being the largest telecom, Airtel accounted for 54.7 percent of the LTE availability metrics.

But “A coin has two sides”, though, it is a big growth in India's LTE market, but it is with the lower average speeds. The developing markets often fail to match their competition in developed markets.

"That trend is particularly apparent in Costa Rica and India, where average 4G speeds are only marginally faster than the average global 3G connection," the report said, all four national operators’ the average 4G download speed was found to be only 1.14 Mbps, whereas the global average 4G download speed is 17.4 Mbps.

Across the breadths and lengths of the world, South Korea notched up top position by scoring the highest in 4G availability."South Korea and Japan are still the only two countries able to provide LTE connectivity more than 90% of the time in our tests," the report said.

Though overall improvement in LTE reach is found across 75countries.

When new LTE networks come online, old networks gain new life through LTE-Advanced upgrades, ergo by turning attention to 5G will help 4G signals to make their way into new niches across the globe.
