The jury ordered the company to pay $ 4.69 billion to 22 victims in St. Louis Circuit Court of Missouri province, due to ovarian cancer of the US women because of using Johnson and Johnson Baby powder. In Indian currency, this amount is about 321 billion rupees. In this case, the afflicted women said that they had ovarian cancer caused by asbestos present in Johnson and Johnson's baby powder. This decision taken in the US Court is considered to be the biggest decision given in compensation for the disease caused by powder.
 
At this time, Johnson and Johnson are fighting around 9,000 similar cases in different courts. In the current case, due to asbestos mixed in powder, the compensation was claimed on the issue of ovarian cancer. While Johnson and Johnson has denied cancer due to their powder and related products. The company said on the basis of various studies that its powder is safe. It has also said that earlier such decisions have been replaced by the higher courts on technical and legal grounds.
 
On, the ruling court ordered the order to pay $ 550 million as damages, while a $ 4.14 billion penalty was imposed on the company. An official statement issued by Johnson and Johnson said that the trial in court was biased and the company would appeal against it in the higher court. The company said in its official statement that he is very disappointed with this decision. It also claimed that the decisions that were made against the company by the lower courts of the United States have been changed into higher courts after the appeal.
 
He justified the company for this and said that the presence of asbestos in its powder has been certified since the year 1970, in spite of this, the company has not warned its customers about its dangers. In the current case, 22 women had filed cases in the trial court of St. Louis, out of which 17 were out of Missouri.
 
Women's advocate Mark Linear told that after this decision the company should withdraw its powder products from the market so that more women do not have to undergo such ailment due to pain, loss and death of this type. Mark said that if Johnson and Johnson want to continue selling Powder, then they should publish a serious warning. This powder is taking women into their grip of Ovarian cancer.
