Journalist and scriptwriter Arun Sandhu Passed away

The well-known face in the field of journalism, Arun Sandhu passed away today in Mumbai who is a scriptwriter too.Arun Sandhu took his last breath at Sion Hospital and put on ventilator support in the Intensive Care Unit, according to the hospital sources said. "He was suffering from cardiomyopathy," Dr. Jayshree Mondkar, dean-in-charge of the hospital, said.

Arun Sandhu contributed a lot of work in the field of witting he had written many books in Marathi, Hindi as well as in English also but he was better known for his novel in Marathi "Simhasan" and "Mumbai Dinank". Arun Sandhu also worked for Kolkata- based newspaper name ‘The Statesman’ as a special correspondent. 

Not only he contributed himself in writing but also gave his time in script writing in movies. Along with Sooni Taraporevala and Daya Pawar, Sadhu was a co-scriptwriter of the movie Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (2000). The role of Ambedkar was played by actor Mammootty. He won the National Film Award for Best Actor that year. The film was made in English & then dubbed in 9 Indian languages.

The movie script ‘Simhasan’ was directed by Jabbar Patel, which was made in the 1970s, was adapted from Sadhu's novels 'Mumbai Dinank' and 'Simhasan'. He was conferred with the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad, N C Kelkar, and Acharya Atre awards also.
