Bengaluru, Sep 3: As many as 10 people were injured in an acid attack at Congress celebration gathering in Karnataka's Tumkur on Monday where the counting of Karnataka urban local body election results is underway. The injured people have been taken to a nearby hospital.

Worth mention here the incident occurred during Congress candidate Inayatullah Khan's victory procession in Tumkur. The Congress candidate won from ward no 16. The intention behind the attack is not yet known.

On a related note in Karnataka urban local body election, Only Independents won in these municipal council polls.

It is worthy that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the single largest party in the Municipal Corporation. The BJP has won 12 wards, Congress -10 and JD(S)- 10 out of 35 wards in Tumkur city.

For the Municipal Corporation of Tumkur the polls were held on August 31, 2018 and the election results are being declared means today on September 3, 2018.

Corporations: 135 (total seats) - Congress (36), BJP (54), JDS (30), others (15). Town Panchayats: 358 (total seats) - Congress (141), BJP (129), JDS (29) Others (59).

While in the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), BJP won 16 wards and it is leading in 6 wards, Congress won 7 and leading in 12 seats, while JDS won 11 seats and leading in 7 wards, with no majority to any party, Congress-19, BJP-22, JDS-18, Independents-5 and 1 BSP, the JDS-Congress coalition expected to lead MCC.
