New Delhi (India), May 18 (NT): Crucial hearing on Congress-JD(S) petition challenging Karnataka Governor's invitation to BJP to form govt, began in Supreme Court today.

Supreme Court asked counsels for letters from BS Yeddyurappa then Mukul Rohatgi handed over two letters of the BJP to top Court.

Letters, handed to SC by BJP's lawyer Mukul Rohatgi,  which said that Yeddyurappa has been elected as leader of largest party adding that BJP and he has support of necessary number of MLAs  and is ready to prove it on floor of House.

Supreme Court, in his decision  ruled by Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri said, 'floor test seems to be the best option.'

The Apex Court observed that as BS Yeddyurappa has claimed support and BJP is single largest party, there could be two probabilities. whether Guv's decision has to be tested or a floor test has to be held on Saturday.

Supreme Court said, 'It is just a number game, one who enjoys the majority should be invited to form the Govt.'

 The Governor's move triggered the a huge political drama and force  Congress to file a plea in the Supreme Court on late Wednesday after which an unusual midnight hearing by the three-judge bench of justice A.K. Sikri, justice S.A. Bobde and justice Ashok Bhushan was held that commenced from 2.20 AM and concluded to 5.30 AM with the decision to not put stay on BS Yedurappa’s Swear-in ceremony
