New Delhi: An Indian delegation headed by Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the creation of the Dera Baba Nanak-Karatarpur Sahib road corridor on Monday.

Vice-President M Venkaiah  will be accompanying  with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, as Times now reported.

It is noted that the Kartarpur Corridor will reach the international border with Pakistan. The ceremony will be held in Mann village of Gurdaspur district in Punjab. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) also declared that the party leadership and its workers would participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed corridor to Shri Kartarpur Sahib on November 26.

The decision to put up the corridor from Dera Baba Nanak to the International Border was considered November 22 by India’s Union Cabinet.

On the same day, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, announced that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan would be breaking ground for the Kartarpur corridor on November 28.

The corridor will facilitate lakhs of pilgrims from India to trip Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur on the banks of river Ravi in Pakistan. It is believed that at this place Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, have spent his last 18 years.
