Kerala: 1000 security personnel deployed as Portals of the Sabarimala Temple to open today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of Portals of the SabarimalaTemple will be opened today, the security is beefed up and  total 1000 security personnel, 800 men and 200 women, deployed at Nillekal and Pampa base where as 500 security personnel deployed at Sannidhanam, as the leading news agency ANI reported..

  Worth mention here Kerala's Supreme Court in its verdict lifted ban and outlaw a centuries-old custom which used to prohibit girls and women of menstruating age from visiting the temple.

On Tuesday, devotees took to the streets to "screen" vehicles and prevent girls and women between the ages of 10 and 50 from visiting the sacred Hindu place of worship. Local television reported that college students and women journalists were stopped about 20 km far from the temple, which is established in the mountain ranges of the Western Ghats.

The Sabarimala temple has bounded by tradition banned all women of menstruating age and the reason behind the ban is that menstruating women are considered  as "impure" also the devotees assumes Lord Ayyappa to be a celibate god.

Earlier a day Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that his government will not allow any one take law & order in their hands and it will ensure facilities to devotees to go to SabarimalaTemple and offer prayers. He added that Government will not submit a review petition .He asserted that his government said in court that it will implement the top court’s order .
