Kerala Flood: Death toll rise to 29, CM Pinarayi Vijayan to visit flood-affected areas of Idukki

Kerala: 29 people have died in the state due to flood and landslides following heavy and incessant rains till now.  5 shutters of the Idukki dam were opened yesterday. The water level of the dam, reported at 6 am today, is 2401.16 feet with its full reserve level being 2403 feet.

Kochi's Aluva is flooded as the water level of Periyar river has risen after 5 shutters of Idukki dam were opened yesterday. Manappuram Sree Mahadeva Temple submerged in the flood. An Indian Coast Guard helicopter and Fire and rescue department has been deployed for the survey of the region.A Sea King helicopter was launched with additional divers and rescue equipment for Wayanad, earlier today. Despite heavy weather enroute, the crew managed to reach the designated drop point through alternate route and drop the personnel and rescue equipment . 

CM Pinarayi Vijayan will visit today flood-affected areas of Idukki, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Wayanad, Kozhikode & Malappuram districts. Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan and Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala will travel along with him in the helicopter.
