In the mid of anger fuming over the brutal rape and murder of a dalit law student in Kerala, another gang-rape has been reported in the Varkala,Trivandrum district of the state. On Tuesday, A 19-year-old nursing student was allegedly gang-raped by three men, including her friend.

The police have registered a case based on the woman's statement.

The victim has named two of her attackers as Sujith, 25, and Shyju, 24.

Police said Shyju, an autorickshaw driver, was friend of the victim.

She is currently traumatised and has suffered bouts of fits.

The police have not confirmed that the student was raped before being smothered, strangled, and hit hard on the head.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said: "I assure you there will be no lapses. The government will take this as a very serious case."
