Hindu religion celebrates 'Chaitra Navratri' with full of zeal and enthusiasm. It is the festival of nine long days. There are four Navratri that occurred in a year, Sharada Navratri, Vasanta Navratri, Magha Navratri and Ashada Navratri. Among them, the first two are very popular. Vasanta Navratri is also called as Chaitra Navratri. This year Chaitra Navratri starts on March 18, 2018, and concludes on March 26, 2018.

As the grand festival is just around the corner so, here are some important thing we want to let you know. 

CHAITRA NAVRATRI MARCH 2018 POOJA TIMINGS
-Ghatasthapana Muhurta- 06:31 to 07:46 Duration- 1 Hour 15 Mins Pratipada Tithi Begins = 18:41 on 17/Mar/2018 Pratipada Tithi Ends = 18:31 on 18/Mar/2018. 

CHAITRA NAVRATRI MARCH 2018 IMPORTANCE
-Navratri falls during two important seasons in a year namely the onset of spring and winter. Chaitra Navratri falls on the first day of the Luni-Solar calendar of the Hindus Occurring during March or April. Chaitra Navratri has more significance since it also concludes on Ram Navami.

THE STORY BEHIND CHAITRA NAVRATRI
-Once there was a prince named Sudarshan who prayed Maa Shakti and emerged victorious in a war. To thank Maa Shakti, the Prince performed a huge yagnon Chaitra Navratri. Sri Ram and Lakshman worshipped Maa Shakti during Chaitra Navratri for nine days and also performed the Yajna on the final day. The blessings of Maa Shakti made them win against Ravana and release Mother Sita from his captivity.

THE NINE FORMS OF SHAKTI AND DURGA
-During Chaitra Navratri, the nine forms of Maa Shakti known as Durga, Bhadrakali, Jagadamba, Annapurna, Sarvamangala, Bhairavi, Chandika, Lalita, Bhavani and Mookambika are worshipped.

CHAITRA NAVRATRI 2018 PUJA VIDHI
This year in 2018, in many Hindu homes, special poojas will be performed for nine days beginning from 18th March and ending on 26th March. Navratri pujas will take place during the late evening. The idol of Maa Shakti will be decorated and placed on an altar, which will be decorated with flowers and hangings. The puja consists of sixteen types of offerings. Some of the important aspects of rituals include burning incense, offering fragrant substances and flowers to Maa Shakti, offering betel leaves, nuts, coconut, and fruits, waving camphor light and others. Special dishes are made during the puja and then distributed to the invitees after the evening puja.
