Google celebrated the achievements of 19th-century Indian explorer Nain Singh Rawat and his 187th birthday with a doodle on Saturday. He was the first person to survey Tibet. The famous Rawat, as Tibetan monk, went from Kumaon area to Kathmandu, Lhasa, and Tawang.

British wanted to make a map of Tibet in the 19th century, but at that time Europeans were not welcomed everywhere. Rawat was one of the highly educated and brave local men trained in geographic exploration. He fixed the exact location and height of Lhasa, made a map of Tsangpo and told the gold mines of bulk Jalung.

Google said, "Disguised as a Tibetan monk, he walked from his home region of Kumaon to places as far as Kathmandu, Lhasa, and Tawang. He maintained a precisely measured pace, covering one mile in 2000 steps, and measured those steps using a rosary. He hid a compass in his prayer wheel and mercury in cowrie shells and even disguised travel records as prayers."

Mercury was featured in Google's doodle on Saturday for Nain Singh Rawat. He has shown a lonely and courageous person far and wide. There is a rosary in the hands of a person and a compass was also kept near him.
