Legislative Assembly approves Rs 3,036 cr for health, medical education

Srinagar, grants of Rs 3,036.61 crore for the Health and Medical Education Department for the current financial year have been passed by the Legislative Assembly. 23 members were participated in the discussion.

Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat sought the support of legislators for improving the health sector in the state.

Minister said that, “Health being the concern of everyone, we must make collective efforts to streamline its working so that the benefits of the facilities reach the common man. Efforts of just the minister are not sufficient in improving the system.The entire House should support fine-tuning of the healthcare system on the ground”.

He further added, “The government has already identified the gaps to improve the facilities and the Centre will be approached for providing necessary funds for plugging those”.

According to Health Minister, the government had taken various measures which included implementation of the Free Drug Policy from June 1 in all health institutions (except tertiary hospitals).

“The details of the drugs and other facilities available in the hospitals will be prominently displayed for the information of the common man,” Minister added.
