LIFE STORY OF UPANYAS SMRAT : MUNSHI PREMCHAND

Munshi Premchandra is a big name in Hindi Literature. He was born on 31st July 1880 and died on 8th October 1936. During his life span, he has written on various social issues and society got greatly influenced by his works. On the Occasion of birth Anniversary of this legendary writer, we are presenting his life story which is interesting and inspiring.

 

EARLY LIFE    

He was born in Lamhi Village near Banaras. His father Ajaib Lal, was a post office clerk and her mother Anandi Devi was a housewife. His birth name was Dhanpat Rai and his nickname was Nawab. He has chosen this as pen name while writing. In 1895, he got married when he was just 15 years.

 

CAREER

In 1905, he met editor of magazine Zamana. In 1907, he published his first story named Duniya ke sabse Anmol Ratan in Zamana. Then he published other novels like Hamkhurma-o-Hamsavab and Krishna. In 1923, he successfully established his printing press and Publishing house ‘Saraswati Press’, here he published his writings like Nirmala, Pratigya, Gaban, Hans, Jagaran and Rangabhumi.

  

LATER LIFE TILL DEATH 

 

He also worked in Bollywood industry where he wrote the script of film ‘Mazdoor’. He also played a cameo role in the same movie. He died in 1936 and his last story ‘Cricket Match’ was published in the year 1937.
