M Karunanidhi's funeral procession departs from Rajaji hall

Followers of the DMK have departed from the Rajaji Hall along with the dead body of the chief of the DMK, M Karunanidhi, to proceed for his funeral.

The body shall be taken to the Marina Beach, where the Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, shall be laid in rest.

Many political leaders, as well as, celebrities have visited the Rajaji Hall to pay their homage to the great leader. Recently the body at the Rajaji Hall was visited by Farooq Abdullah, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Sharad Pawar, the president of NCP and Praful Patel, who is a Congress leader.

Sources have informed that the Supreme Court has dismissed the application filed by Ramaswamy to stop the funeral rites of the DMK chief, M Karunanidhi, which were to be performed at the Marina beach. He had filed a plea in the Supreme court, after the Madras High court allowed the DMK followers to perform the final rites of their chief, on the Marina beach.

They were given the permission to bury the DMK chief, M Karunanidhi on the Marina Beach, where other political leaders like MGR and Jayalalitha were also buried.

The chief minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, P. Sathasivam, the Governor of Kerala and Ramesh Chennithala, a Congress leader also visited the Rajaji hall and paid homage to the 5 times CM of Tamil Nadu.
