World-class Indian pugilist MC Mary Kom and rookie Sonia Chahal will clash for Gold medals at the Women's World Boxing Championships in the national capital New Delhi this evening.

In the 48 kilogram category, Mary Kom is aiming to clinch her historic sixth World title. She will face Hanna Okhota of Ukraine. Worth mention here it will be Mary's second meeting with the Ukrainian in three months. The 35-year veteran from Manipur had crushed Hanna in the semi-final of Silesian Boxing Championships in Poland in September.

Mary Kom is at present tied with Katie Taylor on five gold medals and one more will make her the most winning woman in World Championships history ever since the Irish pugilist has turned Professional.

On the other hand, Sonia Chahal will be clashing against Ornella Wahner of Germany in the 57 kg division.

It is noted that The 21-year Haryana pugilist is competing in her maiden World Championships and she is also one shot away from scripting history.

India has, so far, won two Bronze medals at the ongoing Championships through Simranjit Kaur in the 64 kg category and Lovlina Borgohain in the 69 kg division.
