MP bye-poll results live: Congress is ahead enough to challenge BJP for upcoming elections

Counting is underway for two assembly seats Mungaoli and Kolaras in Madhyapradesh where Congress is leading by 5115 and 4210 votes in Kolaras and Mungaoli assemblies respectively after the completion of round ten.

The by-election is being considered as very crucial prior to the Madhyapradesh state assembly elections 2018 and its results can alter political equations in both the parties.

A win for Congress may uplift Jyotiraditya Scindia chances of becoming the chief minister face for the party and can narrow down the morale of BJP which is already in a state of serious review after recently losing two loksabha and one assembly seats.

It is to be noted that both Kolaras and Mungaoli constituencies have swung between Congress and BJP since 1985 where BJP has won Kolaras four times and Congress has won thrice.

The close fight is seen as a prestige battle between Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia of Congress in which Shivraj Singh Chouhan led the BJP campaign along with the team of his cabinet ministers while the Congress stalwart Jyotiraditya Scindia led the opposition attack.

The high voltage campaign also witnessed complaints and blames where the Congress approaches to the Election Commission against discrepancies in voter lists and complaints Yashodhara Raje Scindia for allegedly threatening people for not voting to BJP.
