In Raigad district of Maharashtra, five members of the same family, including two children near Alibag, were found unconscious in their home. This information was given by the police. A police official said that the incident came to light on Wednesday afternoon when the neighbours in the Akshi village, 96 kilometres from here, noticed that there was no sound coming from inside the house nor any action was being taken.
He told that the neighbours repeatedly alerted the Alibag Police when no answer was received even after knocking on the door. The official said that the police entered the house where they found three adults and two children unconscious.
He said that all of them were taken to a nearby hospital from where a woman and two children were sent to a hospital in Mumbai in a critical condition. The official said, 'We got a bottle of soft drink which marks the first toxic substance. We have sent it for forensic examination."
Family members were identified as Ramchandra Patil (60), his wife Ranjana (50), his daughter-in-law, Kavita Patil and his children, Swaraj and Swarali (both of them 18 months old). In the meanwhile, the officer informed that Ramchandra, who came to the senses, told the police that he did not eat any poison.
