span style="font-size:14px;">Recently release movie October has received rave responses from the critics and the audience. The movie is been directed by Shoojit Sircar and is starring Varun Dhawan and Banita Sandhu in leading roles. However, leading this Marathi filmmaker Hemal Trivedi has claimed that the movie is plagiarised. He said that the story of the movie resembles the Marathi movie released in 2017 which was titled Aarti - The Unknown Love Story, directed by Sarika Mene.
As per the reports, Trivedi wrote on the Facebook post says that the filmmakers of October never earned any rights to the Marathi film and they never contacted Sarika. On this Sarika Mene said that "I want the audience to watch both films and be impartial in their opinion. When I watched October, [I realised that] the emotions and characters portrayed are similar. Only a few things don't match."
The Marathi movie Aarti is based on Sunny Pawar's life who is Sarika's brother. The female character is based on Sunny's girlfriend Aarti Makwana who was paralysed in a car accident.
On the other hand, a source from October's production house said, "The movie comes from a personal space for Shoojit whose mother was in a comatose state in 2004 and he had taken care of her." Sircar confirmed that he had received a letter from the Screenwriters Association, notifying him of the complaint. He said, "We'll respond to it officially,
post which we'll issue our official statement."
