A new car took the place of Maruti Suzuki's best-selling car Alto. The new record was made by Maruti Suzuki's car only. The company's compact sedan Car Dzire has become the country's best-selling car for the first time in August. The company launched the new DZire in May this year and its 26,140 units were sold in the month of August. Second is the number of Alto whose 21,521 units has been sold.

According to the latest data from the Society of Indian Manufacturers (SIAM), 7 of the 10 best-selling cars in August have 7 models of Maruti Suzuki India. The remaining three models belong to Hyundai Motor India. 

Alto has been the best-selling car in the country for the last decade.In August last year, 15,766 units of Dzire's old version were sold, while Alto was at the top with 20,919 units. Talking about this year's list, Maruti's Hatchback Baleno has been ranked third in August with 17,190 units sold. Last year it sold 8,671 units. 

Compact SUV Vitara Brezza is at number four with the sale of 14,396 units. It was at the eighth position in August last year. Maruti Suzuki's WagonR is at number five by selling 13,907 units. Swift of Maruti Suzuki India is at number six, which sold 12,631 units in August.
