Media blackout in Pak as Faizabad crisis gets worse

Islamabad [Pakistan], Nov 25 (NT): Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has threatened of a live coverage of the Faizabad sit-in after police concentrated effort on the protesters has ignited the countrywide protests.

As Per the Express Tribune, aheading the PEMRA order, there has been a media blackout in Islamabad, where almost all top private TV channels have gone off-air.

"It is informed that under the Electronic Media (Programmes and Advertisements) Code of Conduct 2015, live coverage of any security operation is banned," the PEMRA said in a in black and white declaration.

"consequently, all the satellite TV channel licensees are aimed at to exhibit utmost sensitivity on the matter and meet the terms with Clause 8(8) of Electronic Media (Programmes and Advertisements) Code of Conduct 2015, in letter and spirit and avoid doing from live coverage of the ongoing operation at Faiz-e-abad, Islamabad," it  further read.

PEMRA has also intended for law enforcement agencies to make firm security measures for personnel present in different media outlets across the nation.

As per the reports, one police personnel have departed the life after head injuries while tackling the protesters in Islamabad.

Over 50 security representatives and dozens of protesters have also got injuries.
