Jignesh Mevani was born on 11 December 1982 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. His family lives in a village in Mehsana District.His schooling done from Swastik Vidyalaya School and Vishwa Vidyalaya Madhaymik Shala in Ahmedabad. He did his graduation in Bachelor of Arts in English literature in the year 2003 from H.K Arts College, Ahmedabad. In 2004, he also gets Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication. From 2004 to 2007, he worked as a Reporter for Abhiyan, a Gujarati magazine.In 2013, he received Bachelor of laws from D. T. Law College, Ahmedabad.In Gujarat Legislative Assembly election, 2017 he declared himself political support to the Congress.

Jignesh Mevani is considered as a growing face in recent Gujarat Assembly Polls.After attack aggression on Dalit men in the Unnatnagar village in Saurashtra region of Gujarat by claimed members of cow protector group, protests bust out across Gujarat. Jignesh Mevani attended the protest on march known as Dalit Asmita Yatra from Ahmedabad to Unnatnagar, which stopped on 15 August 2016 and was tended by some near about  20,000 Dalits, and in which some were Dalit women, who took a pledge to give up their traditional jobs of removing cow carcasses. He demanded the land for the upliftment of Dalits.

 

Jignesh Mevani is the member of the Una Dalit Atyachar Ladat Samiti (Una Dalit Fight against Atrocities Committee) that is a group of various Dalit protests in the Gujarat.Jignesh Mevani arranges the huge public meeting, in which Dalits pledged to give up removing cow hunting.Jignesh Mevani leading with  20,000-strong rally challenging justice for Dalit youths publicly beaten for skinning a dead cow in Una, Gujarat.
