Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Meghalaya, which goes to vote on February 27. In his address at Phulbari, PM Modi slammed the ruling Congress government for their governance and urged the people of Meghalaya to give his party a chance.

“The current government has wasted your 50 years. I urge you to provide us with one opportunity for five years,” he urged.

In an attempt to appease people, Modi credited the Indian population for the appreciation India is receiving from the world. “Today the world is appreciating India, the reason behind this is not Modi but you, the people,” PM Modi said.

The prime minister also accused the Congress government of not utilising the funds allocated by the centre to construct roads which were meant for the same. “What is the reason that even if Crores of rupees are released by Delhi for roads, there are no roads to be seen in Meghalaya,” said PM Modi.

He criticised Congress government and accused them of hindering the development of Meghalaya and said it needs a “double engine”. “Meghalaya needs a double engine - one from Meghalaya, another from Delhi. If both the engines come to work together, all the work which had been halted for 50 years will begin at once,” said PM Modi criticising Congress.
