Public Works Minister Chandrakant Patil of Maharashtra claimed that only road potholes for road accidents cannot be held responsible. This statement of the Maharashtra minister came at a time when five people were killed due to the damaged road in Mumbai area in the last two weeks. Talking to reporters in Sangli, Patil said, "When you talk of death in such accidents, you forget that five lakh other people also go through this road. You can not just blame the situation of the road alone. '
 
Opposition party Congress has described this statement of the minister as insensitive. State Congress general secretary Sachin Sawant said that Patil is raising questions on the people's views on the road, but only after the elections will people understand what they can do. Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam claimed that in the Bombay High Court, BMC had claimed that there are 300 potholes in Mumbai, while there are 20,000 potholes here. He said that he is going to file an FIR for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and the Municipal Commissioner regarding the bad roads.
 
Recently, There was a painful accident due to heavy rains and pot holes in Mumbai. In Thane, Maharashtra, heavy floods have created conditions like floods on roads. A woman was fell abruptly due to pit during the rain in Thane and she came under the bus, which crushed her and she died. The whole incident was captured in the CCTV camera in the nearby shop. In the last three-four days, many areas of Maharashtra are experiencing torrential rains and this has led to life constraints.
