Mumbai: Railway traffic affected due to student agitation between Matunga & Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway stations. The agitators are demanding jobs in railways. Police have reached the spot.

On Tuesday morning, the local train services on the central railway line suffered a halt due to students’ agitation between Matunga and Dadar. The protesters stopped the progress of local train services between Matunga and CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) of the Central Line.

The students are reportedly protesting over jobs in railways. The protesters have alleged that they have cleared all necessary examination but did not get recruited.  Police have also reached the spot.

These students are protesting against the confusion surrounding railway recruitment. Students stopped trains on Central Railway during the peak hours on Tuesday.

Due to this agitation between Matunga and Dadar, rail traffic has been badly affected between Matunga and CSMT.

Students are sitting on the railway tracks. Not just local trains but even long-distance trains have been impacted due to this agitation.

Apprentice (trainee) students, who have worked for many years for Railways but have not been recruited, are leading these protests.

According to reports, the police resorted to lathi charge on the students to control the crowd. In responding to that, the students threw stones the local trains.
