Mumbai: Internet services have been suspended in 7 tehsils of Pune district- Shirur, Khed, Baramati, Junnar, Maval, Daund and Bhor, as a precautionary measure, following thee Maratha Reservation Row. Western Railway Mumbai Suburban services running normally while Schools in Pune and Amrawati are shut.

The Maratha organizations who are seeking reservation in education and jobs once again The call  Maharashtra bandh on 9th August 2018 (Thursday). In wake of the bandh , the Maharashtra Police have made highly structured security arrangements.

Maratha groups had held agitations which had turned violent in several parts of Maharashtra Last month too. Worth mention here Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced that the state government is committed to giving reservation to the Maratha community, provided it stands legal scrutiny on July 31.

Schools in Mumbai that are shut for today include JB Petit (Fort), Nalanda Public School (Mulund), Podar (Santacruz), and Lakshyadham High School (Goregaon). Some colleges and schools are also shut in Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Cops have planned to Tape Maratha Quota Protesters if the agitation will turn violent according to the reports of News18.

IndiGo, airline, tweeted to inform that there could be transport interruption in the wake of the Maharashtra, Mumbai bandh. "Due to the planned #Bandh in #Maharashtra, we are anticipating transport disruptions," IndiGo wrote in the micro blogging website. It appealed passengers "to keep extra time in hand while travelling to/from the airport."
