National Green Tribunal warns Delhi is "facing severe environmental pollution "

New Delhi: National Green Tribunal has observed that national capital Delhi is facing severe environmental pollution issues and the delay by Arvind Kejariwal led Delhi Govt in finalizing the action plan on climate change is enhancing the problem. NGT has asked Dy Secretary,Environment Ministry to appear before it.

Concerning with the same, Union Minister Harsh Vardhan said that it is very loud and clear that if stubble is burnt then it is not only that Delhi is going to suffer their own states air quality will also deteriorate. He added that Pollution in Delhi also damages our image in international arena. Government of India has also given funds to these state governments for farm implements

He insisted that his personnel have done regular meetings with the ministers and officials of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh,Punjab &Haryana.He informed that we have asked state governments to handover farmers these implements by Oct 15.

Delhi had turned the unenviable distinction of becoming the most polluted city on Earth last year on November 8 as air quality had reached epically bad proportions. Worth mention here pollution surged so high that some monitoring stations reported an Air Quality Index of 999, way above which is the upper limit of the worst category, Hazardous.
