Following the unfortunate demise of Union Minister Ananth Kumar, it has been decided that National Flag will fly at half mast throughout the country today and State funeral will be accorded, as Ministry of Home Affairs stated. In addition Three-day mourning declared in Karnataka over demise of Union Minister Ananth Kumar and one-day holiday declared for today.

Heartfelt condolences poured in from all the leaders of politics to his wife and children.

“Ananth Kumar Ji was an able administrator, who handled many ministerial portfolios and was a great asset to the BJP organisation. He worked hard to strengthen the Party in Karnataka, particularly in Bengaluru and surrounding areas. He was always accessible to his constituents”, PM Narendra Modi

‏He further tweeted, “Extremely saddened by the passing away of my valued colleague and friend, Shri Ananth Kumar Ji. He was a remarkable leader, who entered public life at a young age and went on to serve society with utmost diligence and compassion. He will always be remembered for his good work”.

On the demise of Ananth Kumar, President Ramnath Kovind expressed his condolence and said, “Sad to hear of the passing of Union minister and veteran parliamentarian Shri H.N. Ananth Kumar. This is a tragic loss to public life in our country and particularly for the people of Karnataka. My condolences to his family, colleagues and countless associates “, President Kovind tweeted.

Felt very sad about the demise of Ananth Kumar. He was ill for some time, but never expected that this will happen. We were hoping he would recover and join back public service. I convey my heartfelt condolences to his wife and children: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu

BJP leader and union minister Ananth Kumar has died last night. Ananth Kumar was ill for the last few months. According to sources, at around 2 pm, during the treatment, Ananth Kumar died. According to reports, Ananth Kumar was suffering from cancer. Ananth Kumar was an MP from Karnataka's Bengaluru South and he was the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs in the Central Government. He had cancer and infection in his lungs, due to which Ananth Kumar had been on ventilator in ICU for several days.

The body of Ananth Kumar will be kept at the National College ground, Bangalore after 9 a.m. where people can give their last glimpse by paying homage.
