External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba at Kathmandu and congratulated him for the successful conduct of recently concluded elections.

The two leaders exchanged views on ways to enhance bilateral relations to take ahead age-old historical ties between India and Nepal. The External Affairs Minister also paid a courtesy call to President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Kathmandu. In her engagements with the President, Both leaders focused on advancing multi-dimensional India-Nepal relations.

“EAM @SushmaSwaraj met @PM_Nepal and congratulated him on the successful conduct of the recent elections. Discussions focused on enhancing our bilateral cooperation to take our age-old and historical partnership forward”, Raveesh Kumar talking head of EAM tweeted.

Earlier Sushma Swaraj met CPN (Maoist Center)  Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.  Both the leaders discussed steps to further deepen unique India-Nepal relations. She also complimented Prachanda for his party's performance in recent elections.

Talking to media persons after the meeting Prachanda said that India assured full support for political stability and l development in Nepal.The External Affairs Minister also met Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal and discussed ways to strengthen India-Nepal bilateral relations, including enhancing people-to-people contacts.

External Affairs Minister landed at Kathmandu yesterday on a goodwill visit to Nepal.
