The University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada is come up with their new experiment that how to curb the accidents in future. The team of researchers has developed first-its-kind computer algorithms that can correctly determine when a driver while driving a car or texting, or engaged in other disturbing activities while driving.

The research team uses a kind of camera and artificial intelligence to detect hand movements that deviate from normal driving behavior and grades in terms of possible safety threats. One of the researchers of the team has told that this information is going to used to improve road safety by warning and altering the drivers.

The algorithms that have made for the safety of drivers are trained by using machine-learning techniques to recognize action like, texting, talking on a cell phone any kind of movement that driver can do in the car. The other research that has done to measure physiological signal such as eye-blinking rate, pupil size and heart - rate variability to help if the driver paying attention to the road. The research team with Ph.D. students were presented in 14th International Conference on Image Analysis and Recognition in Montreal.
