To forge new partnerships with private industry aiming to achieve self-reliance in defense production The Department of Defense Production, Ministry of Defense is organizing a two-day Defense Industry Development Meet at Chennai from January 18, 2018.

The event will be launched by Raksha Mantri Smt Nirmala Sitharaman in the dignified presence of Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri Edappadi K Palaniswami. Senior officials from Ministry of Defense, State Government, Services, Chairman OFB, CMDs of DPSUs, senior executives of DPSUs/OFB and private industries will mark their presence during the event.

Pm Narendra Modi took his twitor handle to elaborate the whole agenda of this meet in string of his tweets said

“MakeInIndia4Defence aims at providing all the facilities to Indian manufacturers so that our Armed Forces can be provided with indigenously arms and equipment and our defense import can be minimized”. Modi tweeted

PM Modi about his pledges over defense sector further said “Modi government is fully committed to remove all the stumbling blocks and facilitating indigenous private participation in defense manufacturing.” He tweeted.

 PM added “To forge new partnerships with private industry aiming to achieve self-reliance in defense production under MakeInIndia4Defence, Department of Defense Production, Min of Defence,is organising 2 days ‘Defence Industry Development Meet ’at Chennai on January 18.”

 As per reports The Governor of Tamil Nadu Shri Banwarilal Purohit and Raksha Rajya Mantri Dr. Subhash Bhamre will be present at the valedictory function programmed on 19 January 2018.

The objective of the Defence- Meet is to forge new partnerships with private industry with the aim to achieve self-reliance in defense production under the overarching Make in India initiative of the Government.
