Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Defense Minister recently expressed her disappointment towards the opposition for questioning her government regarding the Rafale deal. She asserted that proper Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) was accepted post the deal that was agreed to, for the "benefit of the nation".

Sitharaman took to her official Twitter handle and stated that the opposition parties are trying to discourage her government by trying to raise unnecessary arguments. The deal was signed between India and France in the year 2016.
The Union Defence Minister affirmed, "All allegations being leveled in various press conferences are already answered on the floor of the Parliament. A recent attempt, in the House, to malign the government through baseless charges collapsed. Today's was yet another attempt at repeating fabricated facts.”

She later added, "The 2016 IGA has followed the due process and has been done to benefit the nation. Repeating these allegations ad nauseum is only an attempt to malign the government.”

In the year 2016, The NDA (The National Democratic Alliance) government had agreed to a pact with France regarding the Dassault Aviation to buy 36 Rafale jets. A lot of times, the opposition parties, more prominently Congress has asked the central government to reveal the price of the Rafale jets.
