"No politics of any kind for me..", Justice Jasti Chelameswar

New Delhi: Justice Jasti Chelameswar, who demitted from Supreme Court on Friday, has stated that he will never come into politics or not ready to contest polls.

As per the News 18.com reports, when asked if he would float any political group in future or extend support to any elected official, Justice Chelameswar asserted, “No politics of any kind for me…in any form of electoral politics, it is a no.”

After offering his services the country's apex court for almost seven years, Justice Chelameswar- the second senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, was retired from office on Friday.

 On a related note The 65-year-old Justice Chelameswar`s last working day was on May 18, just right ahead of the Supreme Court ended its session for summer vacation.

 Worth mention here Justice Chelameswar is one of the four top court judges who held an exceptional press conference on January 12, asserting "all was not well" on the administrative side of the top Court.

Justice Chelameswar, along with three other senior judges, in the press conference publicly accused Chief Justice Dipak Misra of not strictly adhering to rules in assigning cases to appropriate benches which they said can create "doubt" about the integrity of the apex court.

 Along with Justice Chelameswar , Justices Ranjan Gogoi, Kurian Joseph and Madan B Lokur had released an undated letter which they wrote to Chief Justice Misra in which they passed  a judgment saying that the Chief Justice was the master of roster but this was "not a recognition of any superior authority, legal or factual of the Chief Justice over his colleagues".

After Justice Chelameswar, Chief Justice Of India Deepak Misra will retire on October 2. On the other hand Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Lokur will retire in November and December respectively.
