No shortage of armaments for Army says, General Bipin Rawat

Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) [India], November 10 (NT): Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat on Friday lauded that there is no shortage of arms in the Indian Army.

"The Army has no shortage of armaments. We have to keep modernizing weapons, arms as the technology is getting advancement, and we are trying to bring in new and modernized technique ones in our Army," General Rawat told the media after participating the bicentenary celebration of 9 Gorkha Rifles at 39 Gorkha Training Centre here.

General Rawat also clued-up that stone bombarding incidents in the valley have reduced.

"Stone showering incidents have come down to some degree. The Army, the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Jammu and Kashmir Police are functioning together in the state. Solution to this can't be attained overnight. The government, intelligence agencies, state administration all are making efforts. Will be successful if things go in this direction, can say this with certainty," he quoted

Talking about the nomination of late Field Marshal KM Cariappa for Bharat Ratna General Rawat said, "Final decision depends on the Government, whatever is decided will be up to standard."

"Prayed for the safety and security of our jawans on borders," he asserted.

The Army Chief was on a two-day visit in Varanasi along with his family members to be present at the bicentenary celebration of 9 Gorkha Rifles at 39 Gorkha Training Centre.
