Lucknow: On Monday, A recent online fraud came into light, another incident of online fraud surfaced in Lucknow when a woman was duped of Rs 40,000 after she was trying to cancel movie tickets on the internet. The alleged fraud took place in Jankipuram. The cyber cell of Lucknow were informed about the incident.The victim, Jhanvi had booked four tickets to a movie online. However, she cancelled them later within the required time. The incident took place on March 30.

While reporting, the complainant stated that even though she cancelled the tickets within the required time period, the amount was not credited to her account. The aggrieved then contacted the customer care but the agent did not talk to her properly. After her conversation with the accused, the complainant then received a call from a person who introduced himself as an agent of the website. The accused then asked her to give the details of her debit card so that he could get the money credit into her account. However, when the complainant disconnected the call, Rs 40,000 had been withdrawn from her account. The complainant tried contacting the accused but his phone was switched off.

A similar incident surfaced in Pune on February 9. A father and daughter had been duped of Rs 82,000 by three men who were posing as customer care representatives. The incident took place in November 2018 but the accused were arrested earlier this year. The complainant had allegedly ordered a ring worth Rs 107 from a website. However, when the ring arrived, it did not fit. The complainant returned the ring but did not receive a refund, followed by this, she contacted the customer care.

The person on the phone then asked the complainant to give her card details. The complainant even shared the OTP with the man thrice, followed by this, money was withdrawn from her account. Later, money was transferred from her father's account as well.
