New Delhi: Samajwadi Party's, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agarwal has quit the party and taken the BJP's favour. By reaching the BJP headquarters in Delhi he has formally accepted the membership of the BJP.

Bypassing Agarwal's claim, Samajwadi Party has declared Jaya Bachchan a Rajya Sabha candidate from Uttar Pradesh which leads him to quit the party.

It is believed that Jaya Bachchan is angry with the Naresh as he left the party when she had been given preference to the Rajya Sabha candidate seat.

Commenting on Jaya Bachchan, Naresh Agrawal on joining BJP said: " I have got compared to the women who had worked in the movies, because of her I didn't get the seat, I am totally against this. I have not come here for any self-benefit or for Rajya Sabha ticket."

The Samajwadi Party has 47 MLAs in UP and it is in a position to send only one candidate to the Rajya Sabha.

According to sources, angry Agarwal, after the elimination from Samajwadi Party ticket he approached BJP's top leadership and got the green signal to join the saffron party.

Agarwal, who lived in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, became a legislator on the Congress ticket in 1980. Later, he had reached the Samajwadi Party through several other parties.
