NEW DELHI: Opposition leaders today submitted the impeachment notice for the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra to vice president Venkaiah Naidu.

The move emerged in the wake of the Supreme Court (SC) ruling of yesterday, which refused the demand for an inquiry into the death of CBI judge BH Loya.

Over 60 Parliamentarians (Member of Parliaments) who belong to seven political parties today inked the impeachment notice for proceedings against the CJI Misra, as reported by PTI. The list of MPs include from the Congress, the NCP, CPM, the CPI, the SP, the BSP and the Muslim League.

Before having words with Naidu, leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad met representatives of all opposition parties that had filed petition to President Ram Nath Kovind for an inquiry into judge Loya's death in February. The motion for confiscation of CJI Misra was first suggested in the wake of a January 12 press meet of the four most senior Supreme Court judges.

The Congress yesterday took on the center over SC verdict on the inquiry of Loya's death as a "sad letter day" while underlining that the four SC judges had mentioned the case as a matter of disquiet in their press meet.
