New Delhi: Following the reports of Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken resignation, party incharge of Delhi affairs PC Chacko stated that he has not resigned and has some health issues and has gone for a check-up to abroad. He added that Maken will be back soon, adding he had recently met party President Rahul Gandhi.

Earlier there were reports that ahead of an unanticipated move, Ajay Maken has given resignation from the post of Delhi Congress President on Tuesday. Maken handed his resignation to Congress president Rahul Gandhi and veteran party leader who is in charge of Congress Deralhi PC Chacko on 13 September.

According to sources, his resignation has not been accepted by Congress National President Rahul Gandhi. The resignation rumours a just a few months before the Lok Sabha elections have been shocked for the Congress party, who has started preparations for the elections in the capital. This resignation of Maken is also being added fuels to the discussion of the alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress.

This is not the first time when Maken has resigned. In May 2017, he had given resignation to former party president Sonia Gandhi after Congress` “unsatisfactory performance” in Delhi Municipal Corporation election. He, however, took his move back after present party Chief Rahul Gandhi, the then Congress Vice-President, persuaded him to keep on as the Delhi Congress chief.

Maken had put back Arvinder Singh Lovely as Delhi Congress chief three years ago.

Worth mention here the veteran Congress leader has been a two-time Member of Parliament and three-time Member of Legislative Assembly.

During the UPA government, Ajay Makan had responsibility as a Minister of Housing, Sports and Youth Ministry and Minister of State at different times.
