PM Modi holds “wonderful meeting” with German Chancellor Angela Merkel

BERLIN: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday night stated that he had a "wonderful meeting" with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in his official Twitter. During the meeting both leaders discussed multiple aspects relating to bilateral cooperation as well as other international issues.

PM Modi met Merkel during a brief halt in Berlin after ending up his trip to the UK .In UK PM Modi attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) where he held a series of bilateral meetings.

It was the third and final leg of Indian PM’s three-nation tour to the UK, Sweden and Germany.

"Had a wonderful meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel. We discussed multiple aspects relating to India-Germany cooperation as well as other global issues," PM Modi tweeted.

The two leaders talked about ways to further fortify India-Germany cooperation as Ministry of External Affairs talking head Raveesh Kumar said. He  added that PM Modi's visit "demonstrates India's mutual desire to strengthen the strategic partnership".

"Further cementing a cherished friendship! PM @narendramodi warmly welcomed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Chancellery ahead of the bilateral meeting," Raveesh Kumar asserted in official tweet.

PM Modi's talks with Merkel came after German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier's tour to India last month.Visit of German Pres focused on boosting economic and strategic ties between the two countries.

 Worth mentioning here Germany is India's biggest trade partner in the European Union coalition.
