Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of Vanijya Bhawan in Delhi.

In his address PM Modi addressed that technology has eased ways of doing business today and this is going to rise in years to come. He lauded about GST and said that it has brought positive changes in economy and in the way financial activities were carried out earlier.

 PM Modi added , “I believe the construction of Vanijya Bhawan will be completed before December 2019”.

When once ready, the new building will be house Department of Commerce. The building will provide lodging about 1000 officers and staff. While retaining the Central Vista architecture, the Vanijya Bhawan will have all modern technology driven features as DD news reported.

 Worth mention here it will be a completely paperless office with state of the art facilities such as smart access control, central air-conditioning, video conferencing, and completely networked systems as DD news further informed.

Vanijya Bhawan will be a green building with all required certifications. The new building will be a symbol of not only India's growing economic might but also the adoption and use of technology in governance.

The Department of Commerce is at present housed in Udyog Bhawan which also houses a large number of other Government of India departments leading to restraint of space.
